Da Nang is one of the most preferred cities by expats in Vietnam. It may not be as advanced as Ho Chi Minh nor is it like the capital – Hanoi. However, the laid back lifestyle and striking beach make this place extremely inviting!

Where to go Shopping in Da Nang? Read on and we’ll tell you more about the best places to shop till you drop.

Han Market

Han Market is one of the best places to go shopping in Da Nang. This market has been in operation since the 1940s during the French occupancy in the city.

The market features a two-story floor at the grand intersection of Tran Phu Street, Bach Dang Street, Hung Vuong Street and Tran Hung Dao Street, where you can find hundreds of stalls selling an array of local produce, handicrafts, T-shirts, and accessories. It’s very much like a miniature version of Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City.

Aside from shopping, the streets allow you to see a glimpse of the daily life of the people in Da Nang.

The market’s ground level is designated for fresh vegetables, seafood, and butchered meat in the early morning. There are also numerous fruit stalls set in front of the market, where you can purchase tropical fruits such as bananas, mangoes, durian, and jackfruit.

Han Market also offers an array of mouthwatering dishes through their indoor food court. In here, you will find Vietnamese dishes from mi quang (Vietnamese turmeric noodles) and com tam (broken rice) to banh xeo (crispy pancake) and goi cuon (Vietnamese spring rolls), each of which should cost you no more than VND 30,000

The upper level of the market is reserved for home appliances, souvenirs, cosmetics, and fabrics.

Con Market

Another notable place for where to go shopping in Da Nang is the famous Con Market.  Expect to find over 2,000 stalls selling an array of handicrafts, apparel, and accessories at wholesale prices.

It is also known as Da Nang Commercial Centre and is known as the coastal city’s largest and busiest wholesale shopping venue.

Built atop a highland in the city centre during the 1940s, Con Market was the focal point for farmers and fishermen from Vietnam’s rural districts such as Que Son, Dai Loc, and Thang Binh looking to sell fresh vegetables, seafood, and poultry. Following a renovation in 1984, it is now set within a three-storey building along Ong Ich Khiem Street.

The ground floor is where you can find fresh produce, dried goods, coffee beans and plenty of food stalls while its upper level hosts handicrafts and t-shirts vendors as well as tailor services.

Most of the crafts and several goods sold in this market are considerably cheaper than most markets in Vietnam, you can still bargain for lower prices – ask about 50 per cent to 70 per cent off the retail prices.

The market also has a wide range of cheap and authentic Vietnamese dishes available, including banh mi (Vietnamese-style baguette), goi cuon (spring rolls), banh xeo (crispy pancake), and mi quang (Vietnamese turmeric noodles).

You can expect to pay about VND 30,000 for a filling meal at Con Market.
