Vietnam approves US & Russian Covid-19 vaccines as a backup in case of unforeseen emergencies and situations in the country!
The Ministry of Health in Vietnam approves US & Russian Covid-19 vaccines commonly known as Moderna and Sputnik V.
Alongside this, the AstraZeneca ChAdOx1 vaccine was also approved prior. Moderna’s mRNA-1273 vaccine is based on messenger RNA technology and utilizes synthetic genes than can be produced and manufactured in a few weeks, this can also be produced on a large scale.
Sputnik V which is a product of Generium JSC can be administered in two shots with three weeks interval. This vaccine has to be stored at below 18 degrees celsius and has a six-month shelf life.
In the first few weeks of February, the Ministry of Health approved AstraZeneca. A vaccine made by Oxford and Swedish-U.K.
Its first batch of approximately 117,600 doses reached Ho Chi Minh last Wednesday morning and will be distributed to front-liners such as medical staffs, contract tracers, and officials overlooking the COVID-19 prevention and control.
The government has said it has been advancing in the negotiation with vaccine manufacturers in the U.S, Russia and some other countries to guarantee a total 150 million doses – enough to cover around 70 percent of Vietnam’s population this year.
Since the start of this year, there have been a total 827 cases of Covid-19 in over 13 localities which include the capital – Hanoi and the busiest city – Ho Chi Minh.
