Finding a friend is one thing but finding a true friend to count on is another. Ngo Minh Hieu and Nguyen Tat Minh found a friend of a lifetime with each other.
Nguyen Tat Minh was born with congenital deformities and had to live a challenging life with no feet and a deformed right arm which is immovable. However, despite these incapacities, he still dreamt of going to school one day.
According to Minh, he never felt too bad about his situation. He always thought it would be wonderful to still study and play with several friends despite his condition. Considering Minh’s condition, Hieu has been carrying Minh on his back to help him get to school for 10 years.
When Hieu first met Mihn during their second grade, he felt a strong sympathy towards Minh as he has seen his determination to show up and study – Hieu has been piggyback riding him ever since.
Minh developed a sense of confidence and is more energetic when Hieu is around, he says their friendship has helped him conquer a lot of difficulties growing up.
The headmaster of Trieu Son 5 High School – Nguyen tai Quyen said they were not surprised with the outcome of the boys’ tests because both have always been excellent students.
Quyen said he constantly reminds the two to be modest and appreciate every good thing given to them. He said Hieu’s piggyback riding Minh for a decade is a genuine example of selfless love.
Quyen is more than concerned about how Minh will cope up with the new environment upon entering the university as Hieu won’t be there to help him. He has asked the alumni of Hanoi University of Science and Technology to assist Minh in any way that they can.
Both Hieu and Minh shared a strong desire to enter college which they are both getting closer to as they have passed the 2020 national final high school exam. Hieu got a score of 28.15 while Minh scored 28.10.
Minh is hoping to get into the Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) to study Information Technology while Hieu wants to become a doctor someday in the hopes of saving lives and an instrument of healing – he applied to Hanoi Medical University.
The friends will have to go their separate ways as they have chosen different universities. But Hieu assured it won’t hinder him from seeing Minh.
He says he can’t stay close to Minh to carry him around school but it will definitely help Minh to grow and become independent. He also believes Minh will find friends at the university that are willing to help him get to school.
Minh says this will help him become self-sufficient and will definitely help his future. Above all, he believes he can do it.
This unique story of selfless love and true friendship has flooded the social media and captured the hearts of the locals in Vietnam.
